Rakhi is
secular thread that ties on the
wrist of brother's by sisters during a
Hindu festival called "Raksha
Bandhan" it is a secular festival which celebrates the Hindu people
and the festival which shares love and
duty between brothers and sisters, can
be any women and men who are biologically related or unrelated. Tying the
thread on her brother's wrist symbolizes the sister's love and prayers for her
brothers well -being, and the brother's lifelong, in returns the brothers vows
to protect her and take care of his sisters under all circumstances added with
the gifts items like cards, cloths, money or something thoughtful for the
happiness of the sisters while some brothers have to fill the demand of
sisters.
The thread creates the positive sense
of respect and humor between any men and women and creates a social bond
between the different class of people, moreover it keeps the ties between the
family relatives and brings together all men's and women of related family
members together in a single place to celebrate the holy festival. The rituals
to tie up the knot is believed to be following since mythological era as mentioned
in some mythological stories.
